We’re looking for an experience, collaborative, and solutions-focused leader to serve as the next Assistant Superintendent of General Services. This position is available for current regular status employees of the Oregon Department of Corrections or Oregon Corrections Enterprises. About the Job – Your Role In this role, you will manage, supervise, and coordinate the daily operations of the institution in compliance with statutory, administrative, and case law requirements. You will provide leadership and oversight for physical plant, food services, AIC work programs and safety management. You will play a key role in programs, fiscal planning, budget management, labor contract administration, personnel management and planning and implementing long‑range program objectives and short‑range operational needs.

Requirements

  • Seven years of supervision, management, or progressively related experience; OR Four years of related experience AND a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with budget and fiscal planning, including preparing and reviewing budget requests.
  • Experience with budget management processes and supporting managers in applying them.
  • Experience directing and supervising managers and staff, including inspections and performance monitoring.
  • Knowledge of management policies around collective bargaining and assisting in their implementation.
  • Ability to translate operational data into clear decisions and resource prioritization
  • Skill in developing and maintaining effective work and educational opportunities and promoting M‑17 compliance.
  • Knowledge of inspections, audits and corrective action
  • Proven ability to lead through emergency response and ICS environments
  • Knowledge of project management methodology

Responsibilities

  • Oversee services and resources within budget limitations through reporting managers.
  • Ensure each section provides for a safe and secure environment for staff and AICs.
  • Prepare and review budget requests and act as principal budget advisor to the Superintendent.
  • Ensure managers are knowledgeable of budget management processes and assist with management policies around collective bargaining.
  • Work with subordinate managers to develop and maintain effective work and educational opportunities and promote M‑17 compliance.
  • Maintain favorable working relationships with public and private partners inside and outside the institution.
  • Direct, supervise, and coordinate section managers and staff; conduct meetings, hearings, conferences, inspections, and monitor staff performance.
  • Provide administrative oversight of Physical Plant and Food Service operations, including the preparation and serving of over 5,652 AIC meals daily.
