About The Position

Mackin Engineering & Consulting is seeking a motivated Assistant Structural Engineer to join our growing team based in Ohio. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers on a wide variety of building and infrastructure projects while developing strong technical and professional skills in a collaborative consulting environment. As an Assistant Structural Engineer, you will support the design, analysis, and inspection of structural systems, helping deliver safe, efficient, and code-compliant solutions for our clients.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field
0–2 years of relevant experience (internship experience considered)
Familiarity with structural analysis software and CAD drafting tools
Working knowledge of applicable building codes and standards
Understanding of common construction materials and structural systems
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills
AutoCAD
Microsoft Office Suite
Finite Element Analysis software
Technical report writing

Responsibilities

Assist with the design and analysis of structural systems for buildings and infrastructure projects
Perform structural calculations and modeling to verify safety, stability, and code compliance
Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
Coordinate with architects, engineers, and construction professionals
Participate in site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress and conformance to design intent
Support senior engineers during project meetings and design reviews
Stay current with applicable building codes, standards, and industry best practices
