About The Position

The Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach supports the planning and delivery of sport-specific strength and conditioning programs for NCAA Division II student-athletes, emphasizing performance enhancement, safety, and athlete development while maintaining compliance with NCAA and institutional standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of related experience.
  • Valid CSCS (Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist) or SCCC (Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified) certification.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, implementation, and supervision of year‑round strength and conditioning programs for assigned athletic teams in alignment with sport-specific demands.
  • Lead training sessions, ensuring proper technique, safety, and intensity for strength training, speed, agility, conditioning, and mobility exercises.
  • Collaborate with the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach to evaluate athletes’ physical needs and adjust training plans accordingly.
  • Educate and motivate student‑athletes on proper lifting technique, injury prevention, recovery strategies, and overall athletic development.
  • Supervise and ensure safety in all strength and conditioning facilities, enforcing NCAA, institutional, and departmental policies.
  • Conduct or assist with performance testing, data collection, and progress tracking (e.g., strength tests, speed/agility testing).
  • Communicate regularly with sport coaches, athletic trainers, and sports medicine staff to support return‑to-play protocols and athlete wellness.
  • Assist with the monitoring of injured and rehabilitating athletes under the guidance of athletic training staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of workouts, attendance, testing results, and equipment maintenance.
  • Mentor and supervise graduate assistants, interns, and student workers within the strength and conditioning program.
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA Division II regulations, conference rules, and university policies.
  • Assist with facility upkeep, equipment organization, inventory, and reporting equipment needs.
