About The Position

The Head Coach of Strength and Conditioning reports to the Assistant Athletic Director for Student Support & Success and leads a comprehensive strength and conditioning program serving 13 intercollegiate teams and more than 300 student-athletes. This position is responsible for the design, implementation, and oversight of training programs that enhance performance, promote injury prevention, and support the overall well-being of student-athletes. Committed to fostering student success, the Head Coach of Strength and Conditioning advances the role of intercollegiate athletics as an integral component of the college’s educational mission while actively supporting the academic achievement and holistic development of student-athletes. This is a full-time, 12-month, salaried position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Certified (NSCA –CSCS; CSCCA – SCCC; USAW) and experienced strength coach
  • Ability to work independently

  • Strong interpersonal and public relation communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and supervise all weight room activities
  • Supervise and hire paid and volunteer assistant(s)
  • Design training programs that include strength, functional movement and conditioning
  • Assist with wellness education and manage exercise supervision, progress tracking, program adjustments and implementation in a coordinated effort with the head coaches for each sport
  • Ensure procedures and regulations which provide safety and monitoring of the weight room programs to not only maximize performance but reduce injury and liability risk
  • Help build a positive culture through collaboration with student-athletes, coaches and staff
  • Manage weight room, including scheduling, cleaning and equipment maintenance
  • Maintain progress records to evaluate student-athlete progress and program effectiveness
  • Manage and maintain strength and conditioning technology platform
  • Maintain accurate and updated records of usage and incidents in the weight room. Communication of this information with coaches and the Head Athletic Trainer required.
  • Work in collaboration with Athletic Training Team pertaining to athlete injuries and rehab
  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with NCAA rules and regulations
  • Follow all institutional, conference, and NCAA regulations
  • NCAA violations may result in disciplinary action
  • Perform all responsibilities with the highest ethical standards consistent with the University's mission, vision and values which include diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Perform other duties as assigned
