About The Position

This position will develop and implement the sports performance program for the assigned sports of Barry's 21 intercollegiate athletic teams, which includes developing sport-specific conditioning programs, performance analysis/ sport science data, injury prevention/ rehabilitation programs, and nutrition. The Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach will report to the Director of Strength and Conditioning and assist in overseeing the daily operations of the facility (cleaning, equipment storage, and replacement). This position will be responsible for teaching proper and safe weightlifting techniques and motivating student-athletes to reach their potential. Additional responsibilities include coordinating rehabilitation with the Athletic Training staff, educating student-athletes and staff in the areas of sports performance, and maintaining compliance with NCAA, SSC, and Barry University rules and regulations. The position is a full-time, eleven (11) month- August 1st through June 30th.position with full benefits. Developing comprehensive training programs for teams and individual varsity student-athletes based upon sport-specific needs. Overseeing the conditioning of direct teams, including, but not limited to development of strength, power, speed, flexibility, endurance, and recovery. Support both team and coaching staff education specific to physical stress, lifestyle management, nutrition education, and general health/wellness. Maintaining the current knowledge base of advances in the area of weight training, cardiovascular conditioning, speed training, and nutrition. The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach will embrace and model a positive coaching philosophy and associated techniques, insisting on a culture of respect and positive communication. The position will assist in maintaining compliance with all NCAA, University, and Conference practices and regulations, while contributing to the continual growth and development of the University's intercollegiate strength and conditioning program. The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach will demonstrate an ongoing commitment to the principles of multiculturalism and diversity through hiring practices, training and development programming, campus collaborations, or involvement and participation in university/divisional multiculturalism and diversity projects or initiatives.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or a related program is required.
  • This position requires 1–3 years of experience in a comparable or related role.
  • CSCS (NSCA) or SCCC (CSCCA) certification required, plus CPR/AED certification.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • General knowledge of MS Word & Outlook
  • Adept at written and oral communication

Nice To Haves

  • A Master's degree in Exercise Science is preferred.
