Purpose of Job : To perform sales and customer service in an effective and efficient manner. To sell products in a profitable manner, representing Interstate All Battery to customers and the public. To perform management activities in the absence or at the direction of the Store Manager.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of math, bookkeeping, etc. as would normally be acquired through a secondary education and one year of additional education or through equivalent experience.
  • Excellent human relations and verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to negotiate contracts and make sales presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce results with previous assignments.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use calculator, measuring instruments, computer, cash register and fax machine.
  • Excellent telephone skills.
  • Demonstrated managerial/supervisory skills.
  • Ability to operate motor vehicle and forklift.
  • Ability to use/be trained on using welder, soldering iron and testing equipment.
  • Good understanding of retail store operations as would be acquired through one to three years of related work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of and experience with batteries and battery applications beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Consults with customers/prospects regarding product needs and determines how those needs can best be satisfied.
  • Tests, analyzes and diagnoses battery problems.
  • Receives specifications and/or samples and builds/rebuilds battery packs.
  • Stocks shelves and sets up displays.
  • Participates in cleaning activities for areas of the Center such as floors, windows, displays, parking lot, etc.
  • Ensures store is opened and closed in a timely manner.
  • Prepares daily and other periodic reports and reconciliations such as deposits, cash recaps, inventory, etc.
  • Oversees and coordinates the placing of orders.
  • Monitors inventory levels and oversees and coordinates the delivery and receipt of battery products.
  • Ensures that the store is clean and presentable to customers.
  • Monitors and ensures observance of safety rules and safe work habits.
  • Orients, directs, trains and retains staff capable of meeting current and projected human resource needs.
  • Makes recommendations in various personnel matters such as pay, performance reviews, and terminations.
