About The Position

The Champaign County State's Attorney's Office is seeking applicants for an entry level Assistant State's Attorney position. Preferred applicants must be currently licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois with previous professional experience and demonstrated professional interest and history in prosecution, litigation, criminal law, social services, or related fields. Recent graduates awaiting bar exam results will be considered, with preference to those who have had some experience through internships or other professional opportunities.

Requirements

• Currently licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois.
• Previous professional experience in prosecution, litigation, criminal law, social services, or related fields.
• Good judgement and decision-making abilities.
• Skilled in trial advocacy, communication, organization, and technology.

Responsibilities

• Exercise primary responsibility for the preparation of jury and bench trials.
• Engage in motion practice and plea negotiations in traffic and misdemeanor criminal matters.
• Work cooperatively with victim advocates and law enforcement.
• Represent the office professionally in court and with the public.
• Other duties as assigned by the State's Attorney.
