About The Position

The Juvenile Sex Crimes Specialist will serve as the sex crimes expert and lead prosecutor for all sex crimes in the Juvenile Justice Division (approximately 30-35 cases). This position requires an 18-month commitment that may be extended upon completion. This is a full-time bargaining unit exempt position.

Requirements

  • Substantial Felony Trial Division or Special Victims Bureau 2nd Chair or equivalent experience
  • Experience litigating sex crimes cases

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of the Juvenile Court Act

Responsibilities

  • Trial experience prosecuting complex aggravated criminal sexual assault/abuse cases
  • Experience conducting fitness and 115-10 hearings
  • Experience directing and cross-examining expert witnesses
  • Ability to properly prepare a case involving forensic evidence for trial
  • Demonstrated ability to patiently teach and mentor newer Assistant States Attorneys
  • An interest in restorative justice principles
  • A willingness to facilitate and conduct training for newer Assistant States Attorneys
