Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; maintains a professional demeanor.
  • Thorough knowledge of Starbucks policies, procedures, and product standards.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs., stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, reach, push, and pull heavy equipment.
  • Manual dexterity and strong eye–hand coordination.
  • Mental alertness for accurate and safe task completion.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics, weights and measures, product handling, perishability, and sanitation.
  • Must adhere to company grooming standards and dress code.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays with reliable attendance.
  • Comfort with potential workplace hazards (equipment, cleaning supplies, hot surfaces, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a friendly, enthusiastic atmosphere focused on fast and helpful customer service.
  • Assists customers with product suggestions, special orders, and inquiries.
  • Responds to phone calls professionally and resolves customer complaints, involving the Store Director when needed.
  • Utilizes suggestive selling techniques through phone, intercom, and in-person interactions.
  • Possesses full working knowledge of all department duties.
  • Prepares, brews, and serves coffee, tea, and food items following company standards.
  • Ensures proper product preparation, packaging, and presentation.
  • Maintains case cleanliness, visual appeal, and adherence to sanitation standards.
  • Ensures correct product temperatures in preparation, storage, and display areas.
  • Executes opening and closing procedures for the department.
  • Builds displays, rotates stock, and removes outdated or damaged product.
  • Maintains compliance with labeling laws, pricing accuracy, code dating, and safety regulations.
  • Implements emergency procedures for equipment or software failures.
  • Operates coffee machines, espresso machines, grinders, blenders, conventional and microwave ovens, and related utensils.
  • Uses electronic cash registers, printers, electronic ordering devices, and pallet jacks.
  • Maintains and sanitizes all equipment and work areas to company standards.
  • Schedules, supervises, trains, and assigns duties to department employees.
  • Ensures proper staffing to maintain service levels and productivity.
  • Trains team members on policies, procedures, recordkeeping, and customer service.
  • Identifies high-potential employees for advancement.
  • Monitors staff performance and productivity; conducts evaluations.
  • Initiates personnel actions including interviews, promotions, transfers, and disciplinary steps.
  • Maintains inventory levels to meet quality, freshness, and divisional standards.
  • Oversees product ordering, receiving, load breakdown, verification, and rotation.
  • Conducts physical inventory every 4 weeks.
  • Completes daily logs, production sheets, par charts, sales and labor reports, and other required documentation.
  • Controls shrink, cost, and waste.
  • Participates in sales meetings and communicates department goals, performance, and opportunities to staff.

  • Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans.
  • Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.
