About The Position

Assistant Starbucks Manager – Duties and Responsibilities Customer Service Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a focus on fast, friendly service. Assist customers with product suggestions and special orders. Answer and respond to incoming calls appropriately; resolve customer complaints and escalate to the Store Director when needed. Engage in suggestive selling through telephone, intercom announcements, and one‑on‑one interactions. Department Operations & Product Preparation Maintain full working knowledge of all department duties, including preparation, brewing, and serving food and beverage items. Implement proper and efficient product preparation and packaging techniques. Use and operate equipment such as kitchen utensils, ovens (conventional and microwave), coffee grinders, coffee machines, espresso machines, blenders, printers, and pallet jacks. Maintain hot and cold food items to company standards. Brew coffee and tea. Operate the electronic cash register, accept payments, and make correct change. Maintain knowledge of proper coffee bar procedures and layout. Cleanliness, Sanitation & Food Safety Maintain case cleanliness and visual appeal. Ensure the Starbucks area, equipment, and work environment remain clean, safe, and sanitized. Ensure proper temperature control in all phases of preparation, display, and storage. Ensure accurate product signing and pricing. Comply with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, company policies, and code‑dating requirements. Ensure safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of sales areas, work zones, equipment, coolers, and freezers. Follow emergency procedures for equipment or software malfunctions. Team Leadership & Training Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees. Ensure adequate coverage and service levels. Train employees on store policies, sales techniques, and record‑keeping procedures. Identify and train team members with potential for advancement. Monitor employee productivity and evaluate performance. Initiate personnel actions including interviews, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary steps. Inventory, Ordering & Shrink Control Plan daily operations and monitor production processes according to company procedures and profitability targets. Prepare sales and inventory reports; assist with physical inventory every four weeks. Control inventory levels to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness. Maintain inventory levels based on division guidelines. Stock, rotate, and organize the cooler; maintain freshness standards. Assist in building displays and removing outdated or spoiled products. Control shrink and departmental costs. Ensure proper code‑dating practices on all products. Receiving, Logs & Administrative Tasks Perform receiving duties: break down loads, verify invoices, inspect product quality, report shortages, stock and rotate product. Follow product temperature and storage guidelines and appropriate packaging techniques. Maintain accurate department records and administrative paperwork. Complete and monitor required documents such as: Daily log sheets Production logs Par charts Sales and labor records Other required logs and reports Communication & Meetings Attend and participate in sales meetings. Communicate sales goals, department performance, and sales opportunities to employees. General Responsibilities Follow company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Pay Transparency: Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation pay, paid holidays, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis. For roles in Washington State: Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.
