The Dallas Morning News is seeking an Assistant Sports Editor to provide editing support and leadership across the department and to plan the print product. This editor will prepare stories for publication on multiple platforms, demonstrating an understanding of our print and digital audiences. This journalist will collaborate with editors on the Sports team to help plan and package useful features, spotlights, roundups and listings that engage and serve our North Texas audience and help optimize all content. A strong candidate will have robust editing skills along with an understanding of and ambition for accountability journalism. This editor must be well-organized and have strong news judgment, and they must be confident in presenting story lineups. They must be a bridge-builder in creating relationships. This manager will directly supervise reporters and/or producers on the sports team. A strong communicator, collaborator and multitasker, the Assistant Sports Editor understands that planning is foundational to high-quality journalism and products, both for print and digital.
