About The Position

The Oregon Department of Justice Criminal Justice Division is seeking an experienced law enforcement leader to serve as Assistant Special Agent-in-Charge (Law Enforcement Manager 2 or ASAC). This is a sworn, permanent, full-time, management service position, with full police powers. The primary purpose of this position is to lead/oversee/manage the operations of the Organized Crime Section, the District Attorney Assistance Section, the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, and the Cooperative Disability Investigation Unit (CDIU). Oversight duties are divided between the three ASAC positions, and include program, personnel, case and grant management. This position has direct oversight of both special agents, analysts, and civilians. Requirements

Six years of supervision, management, or progressively related to criminal investigations; OR three years of criminal investigative experience and a bachelor's degree in a related field.
Must be a certified law enforcement officer through the Oregon Department of Public Safety and Standards, or if you are an out-of-state law enforcement officer, must meet the Oregon Department of Public of Safety and Standards requirements for Law Enforcement Hire-Out of State Laterals.
Must possess an Advanced Certificate from the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST), or be able to obtain it within 3 months of hire, or the equivalent from an out-of-state law enforcement Standards and Training Agency
Must obtain a Supervisory Certificate from the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training within 6 months of hire, or the equivalent from an out-of-state law enforcement Standards and Training Agency.
Must be able to work under the conditions described in the Working Conditions portion of the attached position description with or without reasonable accommodations.
Demonstrated experience and ability to perform the assigned duties.
Be able to pass an in-depth criminal and employment background investigation.
Possess or be able to pass federal confidential security clearance upon hire, if required
Willingness to work on all case types handled by the Division.
Pass a DPSST required psychological examination.

Able to provide training, formal briefings, and program presentations to division staff and law enforcement partners.

Responsibilities

Oversee all types of investigations (including sex crimes, public corruption, aggravated murder, election law violations, organized crime, bias crimes, and environmental crimes); provide guidance on the course of the investigation; create systems to ensure all cases are worked in a thorough, timely and professional manner; and advise the Special Agent-in-Charge on the status of ongoing investigations.
Directly manage or provide back-up management to the Organized Crime Section, District Attorney Assist Section, ICAC Task Force, CDIU. Elder Crimes Unit, Bias Crimes Unit and Organized Crime Unit. This includes managing budgets and preparing monthly/quarterly reports.
Participate in task force and information-sharing meetings; participate in and provide training to law enforcement and prosecutors; provide support to Federal, State, and local law enforcement agencies as well as the 36 District Attorneys and their Deputy District Attorneys.
Supervise both sworn and non-sworn staff, to include hiring, assigning and reviewing work, discipline, and responding to grievances.
Participate in the management team and help develop and implement Division policy.
