About The Position

Focusing on Whole-Person Healthcare Meridian Health Services is a progressive healthcare organization that believes in treating the whole-person integrating physical, mental and social well-being to help people achieve their optimum health. Meridian Health Services is currently seeking a part time Assistant Social Worker to work weekends with our multidisciplinary inpatient psychiatric team located at River Bend Hospital, in West Lafayette, IN. The successful candidate effectively communicates (verbally and in writing) with clients, members of the treatment team, social service agencies, care providers, families, and others; utilizes available technology to communicate efficiently and provide for the protection and care of the individual; is able to use skills to de-escalate agitated persons; is able to understand and tolerate constructive criticism and accept input from many different team members. This position will work Saturday 8-4pm and Sunday 8-4pm and Fridays 11am-7pm, a total of 24 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Must have earned a bachelors Degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field.
  • Experience working with persons with developmental and/or mental health challenges is preferred.
  • Drug screen, TB test, extensive background check, and fingerprinting are required of all Meridian employees.
  • Meridian Health Services recommends that all individuals who join Meridian have a flu shot and Covid vaccination to further protect our staff and the patients we serve.
  • We also adhere to Covid-related protocol including wearing masks, social distancing, and sanitizing.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Social Worker or Therapist in developing and writing treatment plans.
  • Produces positive treatment outcomes with individuals.
  • Assists in psychosocial assessments.
  • Provides individual and group treatment to patients.
  • Maintains relevant and timely progress/contact notes in the EMR system.
  • Assists in providing individual and group therapy.
  • Provides crisis intervention as trained.
  • Provides education to clients and/or family members.
  • Performs all duties in a manner consistent with Meridian Health Services standards, policies and procedures and regulations and in accordance with local, state and federal laws and with ethical standards of profession.
  • Actively participates in professional growth and continuing education activities.
