About The Position

The Assistant Site Supervisor supports the Site Supervisor and Project Manager in overseeing daily operations of commercial and mill construction projects. This role plays a key leadership function on the jobsite by coordinating subcontractors, monitoring project progress, enforcing safety and quality standards, and supporting overall project execution. The Assistant Site Supervisor exercises independent judgment, assists with supervision of field personnel, and helps ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with contract documents.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of construction experience.
  • Working knowledge of commercial construction processes, sequencing, and jobsite operations.
  • Understanding of construction documents, schedules, and quality requirements.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and coordination skills.
  • Proficiency with construction-related software and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to analyze information, identify issues, and support project decision-making.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrated integrity and a high standard of ethical conduct.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to evaluate situations and recommend solutions.
  • Customer- and service-oriented mindset when working with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Site Supervisor in managing daily jobsite operations for commercial and mill construction projects.
  • Monitor project schedules, sequencing, and critical path activities to support timely completion.
  • Coordinate subcontractor activities and ensure alignment with project schedules and quality standards.
  • Support communication between project management, subcontractors, suppliers, and field staff.
  • Participate in planning discussions related to sequencing, logistics, and resource needs.
  • Monitor work in progress to ensure compliance with contract documents, plans, specifications, and company standards.
  • Verify layout, dimensions, and field conditions for accuracy and constructability.
  • Assist in administering Chinburg’s Quality Management Program and tracking deficiencies through resolution.
  • Conduct routine inspections of work performed by subcontractors and internal crews.
  • Provide day-to-day oversight and direction to carpenters and laborers.
  • Assist in mentoring and developing field staff.
  • Communicate expectations regarding performance, productivity, and safety.
  • Support enforcement of company policies, procedures, and jobsite standards.
  • Assist in the administration and enforcement of CBI’s Safety Program.
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings, job hazard analyses, and daily safety planning.
  • Monitor jobsite safety conditions and take corrective action when needed.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Maintain and distribute construction documentation including drawings, RFIs, bulletins, and field reports.
  • Review and contribute to daily reports, photo documentation, and project records.
  • Assist with tracking permits, inspections, and required approvals for project completion.
  • Support preparation of weekly work plans and project updates.
  • Participate in project meetings with clients, inspectors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide updates on project status, progress, and potential issues.
  • Support resolution of field issues in coordination with the Project Manager and Site Supervisor.
  • Perform limited hands-on work or punch-list items as necessary to support project completion.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across the construction team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of project and company objectives.
