Assistant Showroom Manager

About The Position

Babylist is seeking an Assistant Showroom Manager to help lead our New York showroom in SoHo. This space brings our brand to life in person—where expecting parents and their communities can explore products, build registries, and experience Babylist firsthand. You’ll play a key role in delivering a thoughtful, high-touch experience for every guest who walks through the door. Day to day, you’ll operate as a core leader on the floor—running shifts, guiding the team, and ensuring everything from staffing to merchandising to guest flow is dialed. You’ll spend most of your time on the floor: coaching in real time, jumping into customer interactions, and making sure the experience feels seamless. When the Showroom Manager is out, you’ll step in to lead the space and keep operations running smoothly. This role is highly hands-on and floor-driven. If you prefer back-of-house roles or environments where leadership happens mostly off the floor, this will be a tough fit. Success in this role comes from being present, engaged, and leading from the front—every shift.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of retail leadership experience, including hiring, scheduling, and training frontline teams
  • Experience acting as manager-on-duty or second-in-command, comfortable stepping in to run the showroom and make decisions in real time
  • Proven ability to coach and develop retail teams, improving performance through in-the-moment feedback
  • Strong operational instincts, including managing staffing coverage, inventory awareness, and daily execution
  • Hands-on experience with POS and inventory systems (e.g. Shopify POS, Lightspeed, or similar), able to operate independently
  • Experience maintaining visual merchandising standards in a dynamic retail or experiential environment
  • Comfortable working a flexible schedule, including weekends and peak retail hours
  • Able to stand for 8–10 hour shifts and lift up to 30 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • You're genuinely excited about what AI can do —even in retail environments—and are open to using it to improve team operations and the guest experience

Responsibilities

  • Run the showroom floor day-to-day, ensuring a high-quality, consistent experience for every guest
  • Act as manager-on-duty when needed, owning operations and decision-making in the absence of the Showroom Manager
  • Coach and support showroom staff in real time, improving service quality and team performance shift by shift
  • Guide guests through the showroom experience, answering questions and helping them make confident product decisions
  • Execute staffing plans, zone coverage, and shift assignments to ensure strong floor coverage at all times
  • Maintain visual merchandising and product presentation standards across all areas of the showroom
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and training of Brand Ambassadors and Shift Leads
  • Partner on in-store events, activations, and VIP experiences that bring the Babylist brand to life

Benefits

  • Competitive pay and meaningful opportunities for career advancement
  • We believe technology and data can solve hard problems
  • We're committed to career progression and performance-based advancement
  • Competitive salary with equity and bonus opportunities
  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Retirement savings plan with company matching and flexible spending accounts
  • Generous paid parental leave and PTO
  • Perks for physical, mental, and emotional health, parenting, childcare, and financial planning
