About The Position

We are seeking a technically skilled Assistant Service Manager to join our Repair Team. In this role, you will support the day‑to‑day operations of our field repair technicians with an increased emphasis on technical oversight, equipment knowledge, system accuracy, and diagnostic coordination. You will help ensure that calibrations, repairs, and service activities follow proper technical procedures, regulatory standards, and quality expectations. As our Assistant Service Manager, you will work directly with customers and technicians to assign, coordinate, and manage jobs while also validating technical requirements, preparing documentation, and supporting troubleshooting efforts. You will ensure equipment is properly logged, inspected, configured, and assigned in our management software with high technical accuracy. This role is central to resolving operational and technical issues that arise in the field or lab. You will collaborate closely with the branch manager and lead field technician to implement improved service processes, quality controls, and workflow efficiencies.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, or metrology concepts (or willingness to learn technical calibration processes).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Coordinator, Scheduler, or Assistant Service Manager.
  • Hands‑on experience with calibration, repair operations, metrology, or technical service workflows.
  • Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025, quality systems, or equipment certification practices.
  • Experience with service management systems, diagnostic tools, or calibration equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the workflow and scheduling of all calibrations and repair work, ensuring technical requirements, standards, and documentation are met.
  • Schedule and dispatch field technicians based on skillset, certification level, and equipment type.
  • Inspect, receive, and create work orders for customer equipment, including initial technical assessment, verification of model/serial data, and identifying required calibration standards.
  • Assist technicians by reviewing calibration procedures, confirming required test equipment, and ensuring all tools meet current certification requirements.
  • Create technical quotes and estimates for calibration and repair services, including labor calculations, parts sourcing, and procedural complexity evaluations.
  • Organize purchase orders, coordinate parts procurement, or secure customer payments for services.
  • Maintain accuracy of asset records, calibration intervals, and service notes in the management system, ensuring technical traceability and compliance.
  • Communicate with customers by providing detailed job status updates, technical clarifications, or documentation corrections/amendments to certificates.
  • Support customers with questions about calibration standards, measurement capability, equipment performance, or troubleshooting outcomes.
  • Follow up with customers regarding upcoming calibration due dates, and provide guidance on technical scope, recommended intervals, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in developing or revising calibration workflows, technician checklists, and technical processes.
  • Participate in root‑cause investigations for recurring equipment issues, incorrect measurements, or process gaps.
  • Coordinate with the lead technician to ensure adherence to ISO/IEC 17025 practices, safety protocols, and quality management system requirements.
