Our Port Jefferson Station store is casting its net for a dedicated, motivated, and customer-focused Full-Time Assistant Seafood Manager to help lead our vibrant Seafood Department. Our Assistant Seafood Managers are responsible for the direct supervision of the Seafood Department operations including providing customer service and assuring that team associates are following company policies and procedures within the respective department. The Assistant Seafood Manager will provide exceptional customer service to include being friendly, responsive, knowledgeable and passionate all while serving as a role model for other team members. Responsibilities will include assisting customers with orders, working as backup to the Seafood Manager, training and scheduling staff, inventory in addition to all other Seafood Department functions.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Prior management experience within in a busy seafood department
  • Must have experience working in a Seafood Dept fileting fish, knowledge of different types of fish, preparing seafood, cleaning seafood, setting displays
  • Ability to develop and train team members, build relationships, utilize skills of team members most appropriately
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service
  • Must have excellent communications skills and be able to speak, read and communicate in the English language
  • Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment relevant to the Seafood Department
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • The Assistant Seafood Manager is responsible for assisting with the operations of our Seafood Department, including providing excellent customer service, ensuring seafood quality, presentation, merchandising, organization, pricing, stocking, etc.
  • Will be responsible for assisting with the training and scheduling of Seafood Clerk staff
  • Will filet fish for order or display, set display for proper presentation, prepare seafood and ensure that ice is always replenished
  • Assist all customers with their seafood questions
  • Assure that all company policies and safety guidelines are adhered to at all times
  • Other duties and functions as assigned
