POSITION: Assistant School Director/Principal LOCATION: York International School PAY RANGE: Admin Salary Schedule, $98,000 - $133,000 Annual Salary CALENDAR: 220 Days FSLA STATUS : Exempt REPORTS TO: School Director/Principal SCHOOL DESIGN OVERVIEW: York International School is a globally minded K-12 school. Requirements

  • Master of Arts degree or equivalent is required.
  • Hold or be eligible to hold a Colorado Principal License.
  • Administrative experience at school level preferred.
  • Two years' experience as an "Instructional Guide" preferred.
  • Knowledge of Colorado School Law, District Policies, and school reform.
  • Experience with English language learners.
  • Grounded in values conducive to leading a diverse learning community toward a compelling vision.
  • K-3 School Directors must provide documentation of evidence-based literacy training, Read Act Designation, per CDE requirements.
  • High expectations for student learning and staff performance.
  • Sophisticated understanding of teaching, learning, and school improvement.
  • Uses data to drive instructional decisions.
  • Exemplary leadership in the areas of vision, structure, resources, and symbolism.
  • Knowledge and skill in staff supervision and evaluation through an educator effectiveness model.
  • Evidence of positive community relations skills and the ability to engage a diverse population.

Responsibilities

  • Performing all duties as currently prescribed by Colorado Law and CDE regulations, Federal School Law, District policies, and procedures.
  • Vision/Mission: providing leadership in establishing, communicating, and implementing the Mission/Vision for the school and community, and communicating that vision to the district's constituents.
  • Communication/Human Relations: communicating with diverse groups effectively by utilizing a variety of techniques and systems.
  • Instructional Leadership: utilizing available resources, knowledge, and skills to ensure consistent effective instructional practices.
  • Student Behavior: providing for a safe and orderly environment, through the development of school-wide culture-building practices and emphasis on a "caring community."
  • Professional Development: providing leadership for a staff development program designed to promote and support the professional growth and development of professional skills consistent with his/her responsibilities and performance.
  • Organization and Management: organizing time, people, and other resources for efficient operation of the school.
  • Evaluation/Supervision: supervising certified and classified employees according to District policy and procedures to improve employee performance. This supervision will include written evaluations of school staff, and assistance with data collection for the evaluation of other district staff.
  • Focus on Learning: ensuring that students learn at high levels by holding high expectations and monitoring results.
