About The Position

Olsson is seeking an Assistant Engineer to join our Roadway and Bridge team. This is a developmental role designed for recent graduates or early‑career engineers who are eager to build a strong foundation in engineering design, analysis, and consulting practices. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, gain hands-on project experience, and contribute to high-quality solutions that serve our clients and communities. What You’ll Do: In this role, you’ll support engineering projects from concept through design while learning industry standards and best practices. Under the guidance of senior staff, you will:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Engineer Intern (EI) certification, or the ability to obtain it
  • Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation OpenRoads Designer (ORD) preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving history

Responsibilities

  • Assist with engineering design elements using established methods and standard techniques
  • Support plan production and modeling efforts with clear, structured direction
  • Develop proficiency in applicable design and modeling software
  • Assist with project schedules, calculations, and technical documentation
  • Contribute to portions of larger projects while gaining exposure to full project lifecycles
  • Gather research and help prepare technical reports
  • Provide informal guidance to student interns on routine assignments
  • Occasionally travel to project sites and work in varying terrain and weather conditions
