The Kansas Neurological Institute (KNI) is an intermediate care facility offering support to approximately 120 residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. KNI has 19 homes with direct support staff assisting with daily living activities in each home throughout four buildings and is located on a large campus, east of the VA hospital in Topeka. This position is responsible for assisting with planning, organizing, and directing the risk management functions at KNI. Assists in coordination of investigations of reported incidents with assigned staff, risk management committee, Peer Review committees, and Administration, as necessary. Assists in development and establishment of a system for analyzing the frequency and causes Reportable Incidents within the hospital. Assists in taking measures to minimize the occurrence of Reportable Incidents and resulting injuries. Assists in interpreting guidelines set by state agencies and KNI policies and procedures. Assists in developing a system to monitor follow up of Risk Management determination.
