We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Risk Manager with a strong background in the construction industry and legal expertise in handling construction-related matters, including insurance claims, contract administration, and compliance. This role requires a proactive individual who can work independently and manage multiple tasks related to risk management and legal compliance across our projects. This is a Full time ON-SITE position in our Charlotte, NC Location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in risk management, Business Administration, Law, or a related field; experience may be substituted for educational requirements based on relevant work history.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in risk management within the construction industry, with a strong legal background.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction law, insurance claims, contract administration, and compliance.
  • Proven ability to assess and mitigate risks, manage legal documentation, and support legal processes.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with legal research tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assess potential risks associated with construction projects and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Assist in the preparation, review, and management of construction contracts, subcontracts, and other legal documents.
  • Oversee insurance-related matters, including managing claims, coordinating with insurance carriers, and ensuring compliance with coverage requirements.
  • Conduct legal research and provide guidance on construction law, regulations, and industry standards to minimize legal risks.
  • Support the legal team in managing disputes, including coordinating with external counsel and preparing documentation for litigation or arbitration.
  • Monitor and track compliance with contractual obligations, insurance requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Draft and edit construction agreements, change orders, lien waivers, and other documents relevant to construction projects.
  • Provide legal support in risk management, including assessing potential liabilities and recommending strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Maintain and organize legal and risk management files, ensuring all project-related documents are properly filed and accessible.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on legal and risk management matters for internal stakeholders
