About The Position

The Assistant Residential Director - Children's Services is responsible for the oversight and management of a cohort of children's residential homes within Crystal Springs. This role supports the Director of Children's Residential Operations (DCRO) by ensuring that each home operates smoothly, safely, and in compliance with all relevant regulations. The Assistant Residential Director is a key leader within the children's residential team, providing supervision, support, and development to house managers and direct care staff. This position may require filling shifts to maintain staff ratios as well as on-call duties. As a member of the leadership team, the Assistant Residential Director will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a work environment focused on excellence and that fosters learning, respect, open communication, collaboration, integration, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of an assigned cohort of children's residential homes, ensuring that services are delivered in a manner that promotes the health, safety, and well-being of all residents. Work closely with the DCRO to implement and uphold high standards of care, including the development and enforcement of best practices in residential care.
  • Implement and ensure compliance with all Crystal Springs, federal, state, and funding agency policies. Monitor the quality of services provided, implementing improvements, and ensuring that care is delivered according to best practices and organizational standards. Conduct regular visits to residential programs to evaluate service efficacy, identify needs, and implement improvements.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage direct reports, including House Managers and other team members ensuring adherence to organizational policies and fostering a culture of accountability and excellence. Ensure that direct reports are prepared for meetings and fulfill their operational responsibilities, including staffing plans, clinical reports, and incident documentation.
  • Conduct regular supervision meetings with House Managers to discuss performance, provide feedback, and set goals for continuous improvement. Provide performance evaluations for direct reports and assist House Managers with the performance management of their staff, including addressing disciplinary issues as necessary.
  • Manage staffing requirements across all residential programs, ensuring they meet standards and are maintained efficiently assuring direct reports adhere to crisis management procedures, incident reporting, staffing, and clinical standards. Respond to emergencies, critical incidents, or staffing shortages as needed, ensuring that all homes are adequately always supported; Fulfill shifts as necessary to maintain required staff-to-resident ratios and ensure the continuity of care.
  • Ensure staff are trained in all relevant procedures and protocols, including crisis management, incident reporting, and clinical standards.
  • Ensure timely completion of notifications, incident reporting, and documentation to funding sources and regulatory agencies.
  • Manage operating residential program budgets, payroll, etc. including overtime use.
  • Oversee the maintenance and safety of residential facilities and vehicles, ensuring they are clean, safe, and conducive to resident well-being. Monitor and maintain compliance with health and safety standards in each home, coordinating with the Director of Health Services and other departments as needed.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities, including audits, reviews, and the implementation of corrective action plans to address identified issues.
  • Assist in the recruitment, selection, and retention of qualified staff, working closely with Human Resources to maintain a full and competent team in each home.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, providing support and leadership to residential staff during off-hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Actively participate in Crystal Springs' leadership team contributing to the overall success and strategic direction of residential services.
  • Functions as an ambassador and liaison for Crystal Springs.
  • Contributes to organization success by accepting new assignments, helping team members, learning new skills, and striving to improve team results.
