About The Position

The candidate is expected to Conduct laboratory activities to advance innovative research in identifying botanicals for the potential treatment of various human conditions or diseases and/or advance the field of botanical medicine Perform molecular biology laboratory experiments (ex. Western blotting, protein assays, DNA/RNA analysis, enzymatic assays) Perform cell culture maintenance and assays Perform viral culture maintenance and assays Perform bacterial and fungal maintenance and assays Perform botanical extractions and quality control, work with team and Analytical Chemist performing biological assays on botanical extracts, fractions, and/or compounds Prepare manuscripts for publication Manage data and analyses, maintain accurate official records of research Review and design protocols, conduct scientific literature searches related to research projects Train and mentor students and other staff members Present at academic and scientific meetings Process and analyze data Present and discuss data and results in team meetings Collect and analyze data collected from scientific experiments and present summaries of research to Principal Investigator Coordinate required maintenance and calibration of instruments When applicable, preparation of patent applications, grants, and proposals Perform routine lab maintenance and daily lab duties Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Doctorate or equivalent degree by the time of appointment in molecular biology, microbiology, or related field;
  • Record of related research experience appropriate to rank;
  • Knowledge and experience related to working with cell culture systems
  • Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with virus, bacterial and fungal systems
  • Experience with botanical research
  • Evidence of peer reviewed publications in relevant field;
  • Highly desirable qualifications include experience with molecular biology assays and evidence of being self-motivated, detail-oriented, responsible, team-compatible, and possessing excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

Responsibilities
