Manages all Underwriting including the planning and monitoring work, development of underwriting and/or marketing skills, and ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines. This position has direct accountability for the business results of their unit with respect to profitability, penetration and/or volume within a specific account, segment, geographic area, product or line of business. Responsible for driving talent management, including but not limited not: attracting, managing, developing and retaining talent Facilitate local decision making while ensuring the consistent execution of strategic initiatives. Assesses underwriting skills of underwriters, delegating underwriting authority based on demonstrated skills, and creates a plan to increase underwriting technical capabilities Drive consistent underwriting best practices and guidelines, in accordance with underwriting guidelines, to ensure rating, pricing, profitability, and structuring adequacy. Apply deep knowledge of market and industry to advise others and provide guidance in regards to complex risks, exposures, and decisions Ensure effective utilization of detailed monitoring standards including quality reviews and self-audits to assess underwriting results and compliance. Handle referrals within stated authority. Execution of division marketing strategy and representing AIG in the marketplace. Ownership of relationships between insureds and distribution partners in the territory Lead unit to achieve established goals and objectives for penetration, volume and profitability. Collaborate with Underwriting, Claim, Actuarial, Legal, Regulatory and Product Development to maintain the highest standards of product line profitability, marketability and regulatory compliance Drive a culture that promotes collaboration, innovation, diversity and inclusion; successfully conduct talent acquisition, employee engagement and performance monitoring/evaluation work; lead by example
