What you can expect to work on… The Assistant Radiation Safety Officer, in collaboration with the RSO, is responsible for the leadership and framework of radiation safety across the organization including managing, mitigating, and/or eliminating risks to Niowave’s employees, contractors, facilities, environment, and communities in which the company operates. This position assists the Radiation Safety Officer in providing support, strategic direction, tactical execution, and policy guidance for radiation safety at Niowave. In the absence of the RSO, the Assistant RSO assumes the duties of the RSO. In collaboration with the Radiation Safety Committee and management team, supports radiation safety plans to ensure conformance with regulatory and company requirements that align with business and functional needs In collaboration with the RSO, Develops, implements, and maintains radiation safety policies, procedures, and programs Leads the Radiation Safety Committee Leads emergency response as required for the radiological facilities and participates in the upkeep and training of emergency response plans Collaborates closely with the Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) team to assure alignment between radiation safety and EH&S policies and procedures Responsible for supporting and participating in communications and audits with NRC and state regulatory bodies regarding radioactive material or x-ray producing machines. Serves as a technical radiation safety resource for the management team Effectively builds and maintains collaborative relations with colleagues and radiation workers. Coaches all levels of the organization on the benefits of a Safety First culture
