About The Position

Reporting to the Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education and Dean of Honors College, the Assistant Provost will represent OAA, as the primary operational leader of OUE and the primary integrator of undergraduate academic systems, timelines, General Education initiatives, and external relationships. The position provides strategic operational leadership for General Education by coordinating priorities across curriculum systems, assessment, onboarding, and communications while managing office workflow, staffing processes, implementation timelines, and documentation standards. Serving as the primary liaison to key governance and academic bodies—including the Core Curriculum Oversight Committee and the University of Alabama Teaching Academy—the role oversees annual committee staffing, chairs the General Education Task Force during review cycles, and guides exemption decisions. It maintains strong partnerships across campus and external agencies to ensure alignment, policy clarity, and student mobility, and leads coordination of High-Impact Practices such as Experiential Learning and GE Pathways. The position also manages curriculum and catalog processes in CIM/CourseLeaf, develops and maintains technology-enabled systems and online portals, supports AI and digital literacy initiatives, and supervises Built by Bama Undergraduate Ambassadors. The Assistant Provost for Undergraduate and General Education must embody UA’s core competencies by championing undergraduate education, being open to challenges and critiques, committing to service excellence for students, faculty and staff, embracing academic and technological innovation, fundraising, as well as being a team player in a fast-paced, progressive learning environment. The Assistant Provost must have demonstrated familiarity with the current approved general education core and demonstrate the highest level of executive leadership in driving the future direction, promotion, and advancement of UA’s general education reform.
