Position Scope & Organizational Impact The Assistant Project Manager plays a key role in supporting the successful execution of construction projects by assisting in both administrative and technical functions. This position contributes directly to project performance, financial outcomes, and client satisfaction while developing the skills necessary for future leadership roles within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the construction industry with a general contractor.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification required.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Must have legal authority to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with project management software and financial processes preferred.
  • Procore Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager in the administrative and technical management of construction projects
  • Support contract administration, change orders, submittals, procurement, and scheduling activities
  • Manage preconstruction efforts including design document review, subcontractor identification, long-lead procurement, site investigations, labor analysis, bid package development, scheduling, site logistics planning, and permitting coordination
  • Support project financial management including development and maintenance of PFR and LCR, setup of Schedule of Values, approval of job expenditures, preparation and processing of owner requisitions, change order management, asset tracking, and enforcement of bonding and insurance requirements
  • Assist in project start-up activities including scope development, filing system setup (JMIS/Iris), purchasing schedules, insurance and bonding coordination, meeting schedules, QC and Safety (Loss Control) program development, and site mobilization
  • Maintain and update project schedules by coordinating with corporate scheduling, preparing detailed schedules and monthly updates, developing resource-loaded schedules, and creating look-ahead plans
  • Support project team management by mentoring staff, providing direction, facilitating meetings, communicating company policies, and promoting team engagement and morale
  • Manage project administration including document control, RFI process, critical items tracking, correspondence, reporting, filing systems, project meetings, and risk identification and response
  • Support field operations through trade preconstruction meetings, subcontractor and vendor coordination, inspections, daily jobsite walks, and oversight of QC, Safety, shop drawings, material expediting, equipment, and commissioning activities
  • Maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and responsiveness to client needs
  • Assist in project closeout and post-construction activities including obtaining Certificates of Occupancy, submitting as-builts and O&M manuals, completing punch lists, coordinating move-in and startup, managing warranties, demobilization, subcontract closeout, record archiving, and warranty services
  • Promote the company through participation in internal initiatives, industry organizations, recruiting efforts, project PR events, and training/mentorship opportunities
  • Participate in ongoing professional development through training programs, continuing education, seminars, conferences, and industry involvement
