Assistant Project Manager
About The Position
A growing, privately held general contractor based in Chicago focused on ground-up multifamily and mixed-use development. The team is experienced, collaborative, and deliberately small — which means real exposure, real responsibility, and a direct path to growth. Leadership is invested in developing the next generation of project managers. This is a new role added to support a growing project pipeline. You'll work directly alongside senior PMs on ground-up multifamily projects, gaining full-cycle exposure from preconstruction through closeout. The ideal candidate is a few years into their career, has multifamily GC experience, and is ready to take the next step.
Requirements
- 2+ years of GC-side construction experience
- Multifamily project experience required (100+ units preferred)
- Strong communicator — written and verbal
- Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive
- Eager to grow into a full PM role
- Chicago-based; open to relocation for the right candidate
Responsibilities
- Support project managers across all phases of ground-up multifamily construction
- Assist with subcontractor coordination, RFIs, submittals, and change orders
- Help manage project schedules, budgets, and cost tracking
- Attend and contribute to OAC meetings and site visits
- Build relationships with owners, architects, and trade partners
