About The Position

Commercial Electrical Retrofit – National Projects Position Summary Reliable Electric and Lighting is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support national commercial electrical retrofit projects. This position plays a critical role in coordinating project documentation, communication, scheduling, and compliance across multiple states and job sites. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional computer and communication skills, demonstrate strong project management capabilities, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Electrical experience is strongly preferred. This is a high-responsibility position requiring organization, urgency, accountability, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of project coordination or project management experience
  • Exceptional computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite required; advanced Excel proficiency essential)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage a high volume of tasks simultaneously
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines
  • Professional communication skills when working with field staff, vendors, and clients

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in commercial electrical or construction industry
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and retrofit project workflows
  • Experience with national, multi-site project coordination
  • Familiarity with permitting, licensing, and compliance across multiple states
  • Experience with project management software systems
  • Professional Project Management certification (such as PMP) is highly desirable
  • Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) is considered a strong asset

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers in overseeing national commercial retrofit projects from initiation to completion
  • Track project scope, schedules, milestones, and deliverables
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, and job files
  • Prepare submittals, RFIs, change orders, closeout documents, and project logs
  • Monitor permit and licensing requirements across multiple states
  • Coordinate equipment and material procurement and tracking
  • Serve as a communication liaison between:
  • Project Managers
  • Field Superintendents
  • Traveling Electrical Crews
  • Vendors and Suppliers
  • Customers and National Account Representatives
  • Participate in project meetings and document action items
  • Provide timely updates on project progress and potential risks
  • Escalate issues that may impact budget, timeline, or quality
  • Assist in coordinating national travel schedules for field crews
  • Track manpower allocations and labor reporting
  • Support scheduling of inspections and job site access
  • Monitor project timelines and proactively identify delays
  • Assist with budgeting and cost tracking
  • Support invoice preparation and submission
  • Track purchase orders and vendor invoices
  • Maintain organized job cost documentation
  • Ensure project documentation aligns with customer requirements
  • Support safety compliance documentation
  • Assist in maintaining quality control standards
  • Track insurance certificates, lien waivers, and required compliance documents
