About The Position

Shambaugh & Son L.P. is seeking an Assistant Project Manager for Fire Protection National Service Division. In this role you will be responsible for supporting the Estimator and Project Manager in the planning, coordination, and execution of fire alarm, sprinkler, and suppression system projects. This role involves assisting with estimating, project documentation, scheduling, and communication with internal teams and clients to ensure successful project delivery.

Requirements

  • Strong interest in mechanical systems and construction.
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD or willingness to learn.
  • Prior experience in construction or fire protection is a plus but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and spreadsheet tools.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to grow into a project management role.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in construction or fire protection is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in estimating and preparing proposals for fire protection projects.
  • Support the review of blueprints, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Help coordinate project schedules, materials, and subcontractors.
  • Maintain organized project documentation and assist with submittals and change orders.
  • Communicate with vendors and internal departments to ensure timely material procurement.
  • Attend project meetings and take detailed notes for follow-up actions.
  • Assist in tracking project progress, budgets, and timelines.
  • Conduct site visits to support project oversight and ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Collaborate with design teams to ensure timely preparation of drawings and calculations.
  • Provide administrative support to project managers, including billing coordination and reporting.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients and team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.
