About The Position

Assistant Project Manager (APM) Position Summary Imperial Construction is seeking an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support Project Managers and field teams in the day-to-day execution of construction projects. This role helps keep projects organized, documented, and moving forward by managing key administrative and coordination tasks. You’ll work across both office and jobsite environments—handling project documentation, communicating with subcontractors and vendors, procurement tracking and updating and supporting financial tracking and reporting. The APM plays an important role in maintaining project flow, ensuring compliance, and helping the team stay aligned. This position is a strong fit for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with multiple stakeholders while learning how projects are managed from start to finish.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in construction, engineering, or related field OR 3–5 years of related experience (or equivalent combination)
  • Strong/professional organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Basic understanding of construction processes and documentation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to read and interpret construction-related documents
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Acumatica ERP, Blue Beam, Excel, Microsoft Project or P6)
  • Exposure to project budgeting and cost tracking
  • Prior experience working with subcontractors and project teams

Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers with project documentation, billing, and reporting
  • Create and maintain RFIs, submittals, change orders, subcontracts, procurement tracking and closeout documents
  • Track and manage project information in company systems and files
  • Assist with project budget tracking and cost management
  • Coordinate and document weekly construction meetings
  • Communicate with subcontractors, vendors, owners, and design teams
  • Review contract documents to ensure compliance with insurance, bonds, and requirements
  • Process and maintain records for subcontracts, purchase orders, and related documentation
  • Visit jobsites to observe progress and identify potential issues
  • Support Superintendents with field-related needs as required
  • Assist with project closeout, punch lists, and documentation
  • Help manage small projects or scopes when assigned by the Project Manager
