Position Summary The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for assisting the Project Manager and/or Senior Project Manager in managing a current project (or projects).

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license required

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • An understanding of OSHA requirements on electrical projects
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Low Voltage Systems
  • Ability to understand other trade’s activities in a project schedule
  • An understanding of electrical construction
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or five (5) years equivalent field experience
  • Ability to: Read and evaluate specifications and blueprints
  • Deal effectively with customers
  • Ability to work calmly under deadlines and external pressure
  • Proficient math skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in: Microsoft Office Suite and related software

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Attend off-site meetings on a regular basis
  • Visit job sites on a regular basis
  • Temporary relocation to a jobsite may be required
  • The position is jobsite-oriented and requires frequent jobsite walk-throughs
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
  • Must be able to stand, bend, lift and move intermittently
  • Ability to withstand extended exposure to a computer monitor, which may at times be straining on the eyes
  • Ability to carry up to 50 pounds and climb ladders

Responsibilities

  • Effectively assist in management of: Financial aspects of projects including cash flow, billings, net financial position, project opportunities/risks, etc.
  • Project submittals, RFI’s, plans, specs, closeout, etc. with the document control team
  • Effectively assist with coordination of: Change Order (C/O) process following the Lighthouse Electric Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), and estimate change orders as needed
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM) process starting with the estimate, moving through 3D coordination, to prefabrication and site delivery, culminating in field installation
  • Procurement and delivery of quoted materials within the project schedule
  • Quantity tracking for self-performed and subcontracted scopes of work
  • Breaking down project estimates into Cost Codes and reviewing with Field Leadership and Project team
  • Creating a Schedule of Values and presenting to the owner for payment
  • Preparing payment requests and approving material payments in conjunction with Accounting
  • Monitoring expected payments for accuracy and timeliness
  • Project scheduling requirements for responsible planning and management of work activities in line with the established WBS and associated budget
  • Effectively assist with: Providing scope reviews for required subcontractors
  • Reviewing status reports, modify schedules or plans as required
  • Preparing project reports for management and clients, distributing to others as needed
  • Setting and communicating clear goals and expectations to Field Leadership and Project team
  • Providing technical advice and resolving issues with project personnel
  • Resolving all issues relating to the owner, sub-contractors, architect, or material suppliers
  • Conducting post project reviews to determine areas for future improvement
  • Obtain and apply for project permits and inspections
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings to ensure successful handoff from estimating to field
  • Participate in site visits and job walks to identify, document, and communicate issues related to scope changes, schedule conflicts, material shortages, manpower adjustment, quality control, safety, etc.
  • Participate in a culture of continuous learning, training, and skill development
  • Review and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and other project documents
  • Represent the company at job walks, post-bid conferences, job progress meetings, and other related functions, taking notes at the discretion of the Project Manager
  • Advise supervisor of all issues and/or changes to minimize the occurrence of unexpected obstacles
  • Work directly with the Safety department to ensure compliance with company policies
  • Develop a strong network of professional relationships within our industry
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management
