About The Position

Wayside is one of Massachusetts' most respected youth and family-serving agencies, supporting more than 6,000 youth and families annually across Central, Eastern, and Northeastern regions. The Assistant Program Director will lead a dedicated team that works creatively and passionately to improve the lives of youth. This role requires prior experience in a supervisory or managerial role and experience working with youth in a residential setting. The Assistant Program Director is skilled in communication effectively verbally and in writing, therapeutic communication techniques, conflict resolution, staff training, and hiring practices. The position is for Young Adult Services in Somerville.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a supervisory or managerial role
  • Experience working with youth in a residential setting
  • Skilled in communication effectively verbally and in writing
  • Experience in therapeutic communication techniques
  • Experience in conflict resolution
  • Experience in staff training and hiring practices
  • At least 2+ years of work in residential
  • Certification: MAP, TCI - Day 1, CPR, First Aid
  • Valid driver's license
  • Access to a reliable vehicle
  • Demonstrates an ability to multitask
  • Demonstrates ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrates high quality writing skills as evidenced by good documentation
  • Demonstrates the ability to teach, mentor, and coach others (i.e. able to provide constructive feedback to employees, provide thoughtful and consistent supervision)

  • Demonstrates ability to work independently (i.e. can self-direct on projects, able to work in solitude, can propose project solutions)

  • Demonstrates belief in the Agency mission and values

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree
  • Preferred case management experience
  • Basic excel skills
  • At least 3 years of Case Management experience

Responsibilities

  • Complete individual supervision
  • Oversight of day to day programming
  • Be on call as required
  • Coordinate staff scheduling
  • Oversight of MAP certification
  • Provide documentation and participate in weekly clinical rounds
  • Maintain constant contact with guardians and collaterals
  • Proficiency in Motivational Interviewing
  • Participation with intakes
  • Responsible for case management clients
  • Facilitate staff meeting
  • Ensure consistent communication with the team for appointments, medication needs, etc.
  • Provide coverage on the floor to maintain ratio when needed
  • Participate in Community/House meetings
  • Ensure activity calendar is posted and followed for program routines
  • Provide guidance to milieu regarding client activities, behavior management, and crisis management
  • Provide role modeling and training to staff on the floor
  • Complete rent collection
  • Complete facility supplies and inspections
  • Ensure compliance with all inspections, monitoring requirements, medication administration and all licensing requirements
  • Provide trainings to this and other Young Adult Programs
