About The Position

About the Role The Assistant Program Director at UE Heart supports the Program Director in overseeing day-to-day school operations to ensure the delivery of high-quality, accessible, and responsive educational and therapeutic services for students with emotional, behavioral, and social needs. In this role, you may take lead responsibility for specific program initiatives, content areas, or teams, providing leadership, guidance, and professional development to staff. The Assistant Director also works directly with students and families and collaborates with external partners to support student success, contributing to a safe, inclusive, and enriching learning environment. About the HEART Program Seneca’s Unconditional Education HEART Program partners with Hayward Unified School District to support students and families through their most difficult times. The HEART program currently has Counseling Enriched Classrooms (CEC) on 7 Hayward School District campuses. Each classroom is made up of a team of Mental Health Counselors, a Teacher, and a Therapist. The program offers individual, family and group therapies, alongside behavioral systems that emphasize positive reinforcement and incentives. The HEART program promotes a strength-based system focused on relational, behavioral and ecological treatment. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in education, social work, psychology, and/or counseling preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree plus comparable experience may be considered in lieu of master’s degree
  • Prior demonstrated record of providing effective supervision and leadership of diverse program teams
  • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and insurability through Seneca Family of Agencies’ insurance policy

Responsibilities

  • Support the Program Director in managing overall program quality, daily operations, and staff coordination
  • Oversee specific program areas, initiatives, or teams as assigned, ensuring goals are met effectively
  • Lead and support staff in delivering high-quality educational and therapeutic services grounded in Seneca’s values and the principles of Unconditional Care
  • Participate in personnel functions, including staff supervision, professional development, evaluation, and performance management for assigned team members
  • Foster a program culture that promotes student safety, staff engagement, collaboration, and continuous learning
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with families, school districts, county offices, and community providers; provide consultation or training to partners as needed
  • Support management of the school facility to ensure a safe, structured, and welcoming environment
  • Assist in monitoring program budgets for assigned areas and contribute to financial sustainability
  • Engage in data-informed program assessment to guide improvement and measure effectiveness

  • Actual salary dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications
