About The Position

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Washkewicz College of Engineering at Cleveland State University (CSU) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with preference for specialization in the research area of power systems, sustainable energy, smart grids, and/or related areas, starting August 17, 2026. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, with the terminal degree completed by July 1, 2026. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a highly active, externally funded research program, supervise and mentor students at all levels, and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Electrical Engineering, while demonstrating a clear vision for contributing to the University's academic excellence and community impact. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers doctoral, master's, and ABET-accredited bachelor's degrees. The department serves over 200 undergraduate students and more than 60 graduate students, with ten full-time faculty members and over $1 million in annual research funding. Current research areas include control systems, communication systems, power systems, power electronics, mobile computing, nanobiotechnology, network security and privacy, artificial intelligence, robotics, and wireless sensor networks. Requirements

  • A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Related Field. Appropriate terminal degree completed by July 1, 2026. Persons who are ABD will be hired at the rank of Instructor
  • Ph.D. level research in power systems, sustainable energy, smart grids, and/or related areas.
