About The Position

Data Science and Mathematics/Statistics: Two tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor are available in the Department of Mathematics in the College of Arts and Sciences. This appointment carries an initial two-year probationary appointment beginning with the 2025/2026 academic year, on August 18, 2025. Earned doctorate in the area of data science, statistics, applied mathematics, mathematics, or related field required by August 18, 2025. The successful applicant will present evidence of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level. demonstrate potential to teach data science courses involving Python at the undergraduate and master's level. demonstrate ability to teach a wide range of undergraduate mathematics and/or statistics courses, both for majors and non-majors. exhibit potential to establish a research program involving undergraduate research. exhibit potential to contribute service to the Department, University, community, and profession. possess a commitment to equity and inclusiveness in teaching. The City of Eau Claire, situated at the confluence of the Chippewa and Eau Claire rivers, is at the center of a metropolitan area of approximately 100,000 people located 90 miles east of Minneapolis/St. Paul. The area features beautiful parks and trails, strong public schools, a vibrant arts scene and local food culture, and abundant recreational opportunities.

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate in the area of data science, statistics, applied mathematics, mathematics, or related field required by August 18, 2025.

  • Potential to contribute to interdisciplinary collaborations in existing areas of departmental and university strengths, such as actuarial science, bioinformatics, computer science, engineering, or physics.
