Assistant Professor, Sociology and Anthropology
About The Position
The Sociology and Anthropology Department at Fairfield University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor to join our faculty beginning Fall 2026, pending final budget approval. For full consideration please submit all relevant materials by November 15th, 2025. Candidates should have demonstrated research and teaching strengths in the Sociology of Gender/ Sexualities and contribute to our new data analytics program with expertise in quantitative methods. We expect a successful candidate to teach Social and Political Data Analysis , as well as courses such as Sociology of Sexuality and Feminism, Gender and Everyday Life , as well other courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in Sociology or a related field by September 1, 2026. The Sociology and Anthropology department consists of nine full-time faculty members and two professors of the practice representing a range of specialties in Sociology, Anthropology, and related programs at Fairfield University, including Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies, American Studies, Black Studies, Educational Studies, Environmental Studies, Health Studies, Humanitarian Action, and International Studies. Our department colleagues offer courses in all of the Magis Core signature elements and are active in Community Engaged Learning and Research. We also work closely with the Fredrickson Family Innovation Lab in their growing work on social science research, data analysis, and visualization.
