About The Position

The Department of Social Work seeks candidates to teach in its face-to-face undergraduate program and to assist in the development of an accredited MSW program. The successful candidate will actively engage students in research. Collaborations within the department, across other academic units and external agencies in acquiring external funding is highly desirable.

Requirements

  • Applicants should have a) an earned PhD in Social Work or DSW; b) an MSW from an accredited university; c) two years post MSW field experience; d) university teaching experience.
  • Ability to teach on-campus in a CSWE accredited face-to-face program.
  • Ability to teach across the BSW generalist program in topics such as Social Welfare, Human Behavior (HBSE), Social Work Practice, Policy, Research Methods, and special topics seminars
  • Demonstrate commitment to the program's mission and vision
  • Proficiency in the use of online synchronous and asynchronous educational technology.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to implement effective and innovative teaching strategies
  • Ability to perform academic research in degree area of specialty
  • Demonstrated commitment to service to the university, department, profession, and community
  • Ability to teach on-campus, as the program is accredited as face-to-face by CSWE
  • Communicate effectively in classroom, online, and meeting settings.
  • Engage with students, colleagues, and community partners in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Utilize technology for teaching, scholarship, and administrative tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Eligibility for Social Work licensure in Texas
  • Demonstrated understanding of the 2022 CSWE EPAS standards and experience with the CSWE accreditation process
  • Experience in academic advising and student support
  • Evidence of ability to publish scholarly work; conduct research, and secure external funding.

Responsibilities

  • Implement effective teaching strategies.
  • Actively participate in academic service at the department, college, and university levels.
  • Maintain an active research agenda that includes publication of research papers in peer-reviewed journals and/or submission of research grants.
