About The Position

The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences (formerly Communication Sciences and Disorders) is seeking either a tenure-track faculty member at the rank of assistant professor or a clinical instructor at the rank of clinical assistant professor. The department seeks a dynamic candidate with a strong interest in the academic and clinical instruction of undergraduate and master's students in our CAA accredited program in speech-language pathology who is committed to teaching excellence and to maintaining an active program. This appointment carries an initial two-year probationary appointment beginning with the 2026/2027 academic year, August 17, 2026. Summer employment is possible.

Requirements

  • For appointment as a tenure-track faculty member - Doctorate in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences or a related field is required. ABD considered but completion of the doctorate will be required by June 1, 2027. CCC-SLP/CCC-A is preferred. Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and scholarship and demonstrated commitment to support and enhance the diversity and cultural and global awareness of students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to apply.
  • For appointment as a clinical instructor - Master's degree in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences from a CAA-accredited program and at least two years full-time post-CFY employment in speech-language pathology. CCC-SLP/CCC-A is required. Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and clinical supervision and demonstrated commitment to support and enhance the diversity and cultural and global awareness of students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to apply.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior university teaching and online teaching experience will be considered assets, as will expertise in any of the following areas or combination of areas: speech sound disorders, aural rehabilitation, pediatric speech-language pathology, or speech-language pathology assistant training and supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences based on program needs and in accordance with specialization
  • Provide academic advising to students as assigned
  • Participate in scholarly activity, student research, and professional mentoring, as appropriate to appointment type
  • Engagement in service to the department, college, university, and community.
