The Department of Humanities and Communication at the College of Arts and Sciences in Prescott, Arizona is seeking to fill two 9-month, full-time, non-tenure track faculty positions starting in August 2025 or January 2026. These are ranked, renewable positions, with opportunities for promotion.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Writing Studies, Rhetoric and Composition, Technical and Professional Writing, or related field at the time of the appointment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in participating in programmatic assessment and curriculum design for first-year writing and humanities courses.
  • Experience teaching technical writing and/or business communication courses that provide practical rhetorical knowledge to students in various majors.
  • Collaborative teaching, team-teaching, or writing across the curriculum
  • Professional experience writing in the disciplines, e.g., in intelligence-gathering communities, the gaming industry, engineering / simulations industries.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching load is 24 credit hours per academic year (fall and spring semesters).
  • Summer teaching is available and additionally compensated.
  • Primary teaching responsibilities include first year composition, professional writing, and rhetoric, with the opportunity to teach cultural studies, and humanities.
  • The successful candidate will collaborate with other faculty on developing new courses and perform course and program assessments.
  • Successful candidates will also support the department, college, and campus through service.
