About The Position

Wiley University is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Assistant Professor of Physical Education. The successful candidate must hold a minumum of a master’s degree in education with extensive experience. Must have a minimum of three years of experience in Education. Experience must be related to the Texas Administrative Code category for classroom teachers (i.e., Early Childhood Education, Middle Grades, Secondary Education, Special Education, Educational Technology, Physical Education, Health, Music Education, Business Education, etc.) or service and administrative categories (Educational Leadership, Adult Education, School Counselor, Workforce Education, etc.) Must have a minimum of one-year undergraduate teaching experience or other comparable teaching/training experience.

Responsibilities

  • Fulfill the College mission of providing a quality education for all students attending Wiley University.
  • Teach approximately fifteen semester hours each semester or the equivalent including supervising field experience or other experiential learning.
  • Prepare course materials and perform other activities which are related to and meet the requirements of the course each semester.
  • Conduct evaluations of student’s performance and assign grades on the basis of such evaluations.
  • Keep records of student attendance and grades according to college policy.
  • Responsible for the development and revision of course contents, textbook, instructional materials and teaching assignments or scheduling.
  • Responsible for active involvement in the Texas Education Agency accreditation process and all policies required to meet the performance measures required for accreditation.
  • Responsible for the creation, development, and maintenance of student records and files according Texas Education Agency accreditation requirements and directions provided by the dean.
  • Participate in assessment activities, including and especially assessments required for Texas Education Agency accreditation
  • Provide students with academic and career advisement and assistance in transferability as appropriate.
  • Serve on departmental, divisional and university committees as needed to assist in policy development and other matter to benefit the University.
  • Participate in professional organizations to maintain professional skills.
  • Maintain appropriate office hours.
  • Participate personally and encourage student participation in College programs.
  • Participate in registration and advisement process.
  • Contribute to and performs research.
  • May perform, with the dean’s approval, outside recruiting of faculty, staff, and most of all students.
  • May perform related activities assigned by the dean.
