About The Position
The Department of Fine Arts, Design, Art History is pleased to invite applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Photography at Hofstra University. The Department of Fine Arts, Design, Art History at Hofstra University fosters an interdisciplinary and open-minded environment that encourages creative research, artistic practice, scholarship, and professional development. Requirements
- MFA in Photography or a related field.
- Active exhibition record or equivalent evidence of creative practice and critical recognition.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in teaching at the college level.
Nice To Haves
- Record of national/international exhibitions, awards and/or participation in residencies.
- 1-3+ years of college-level teaching experience beyond the MFA.
- Conversant with art history, contemporary theory, and photographic discourse.
- Proficiency in both foundational and advanced media software and photographic equipment (Darkroom and Digital)
Responsibilities
- Maintain an active creative practice and exhibition record.
- Teach a 3/3 course load across foundation, intermediate, and advanced undergraduate photography courses, including studio classes aligned within area of expertise.
- Participate in curriculum development and departmental planning.
- Contribute to service at the department, college (Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences), and university levels.
- Advise and mentor undergraduate students.
