About The Position

Job Summary The Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University Fort Wayne (PFW) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in mechanical engineering starting in August 2026. Qualifications Candidates must have a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering and have earned a doctorate degree in mechanical engineering or a closely-related area by the time of appointment. This position will require teaching and research. Successful candidates will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the area of mechanics such as but not limited to: statics, mechanics of materials, advanced strength of materials, fluid mechanics, as well as engineering fundamentals within the First-Year Engineering program. Applicants for the position are required to have a strong commitment to teaching and laboratory instruction. Candidates shall have the ability to establish and sustain an active research program in their area of expertise and to attract external funding that leads to publications in scholarly journals. Candidates are also expected to participate in service activities at the academic, professional, and/or community levels.
