About The Position

The School of Health Sciences at Lasell University in Newton, Massachusetts invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track, 9-month appointment as an Assistant Professor in Health Science with teaching responsibilities in the Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program, beginning in the 2026–2027 academic year. As the field of Health Science continues to expand, Lasell University’s programs reflect this national growth. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in healthcare occupations is projected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations from 2024 to 2034, with approximately 1.9 million openings projected annually due to growth and workforce replacement needs. Within this landscape, the addition of a full-time faculty member supporting both undergraduate Health Science and graduate Athletic Training programs is essential to meeting accreditation requirements, supporting student success, and strengthening faculty-student engagement. This position is designed to support instructional needs, advising capacity, internship oversight, and program continuity across undergraduate and graduate health science pathways.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Health Science, Exercise Science, Athletic Training, Kinesiology, or a closely related field.
  • Ability to teach undergraduate Health Science and Exercise Science coursework.
  • Ability to teach or support coursework within a CAATE-accredited MSAT program.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to student-centered teaching, advising, and mentoring.

Nice To Haves

  • ACSM Exercise Physiologist Certification (ACSM-EP).
  • Certified Athletic Trainer credential (ATC, LAT).
  • Experience teaching in graduate professional programs.
  • Familiarity with CAATE accreditation standards.
  • Experience supporting internships or clinical education.

Responsibilities

  • Teach across undergraduate Health Science and Exercise Science programs, as well as within the Master of Science in Athletic Training program. Teaching responsibilities may include didactic and laboratory instruction aligned with the candidate’s expertise and program needs.
  • Advise undergraduate Health Science students and contribute to a more equitable distribution of advising responsibilities within the School of Health Sciences.
  • Support students in internship and field experience placement, progression, and evaluation.
  • Mentor students pursuing healthcare and athletic training careers, including preparation for graduate and professional pathways.
  • Serve as a bridge between undergraduate Health Science and Exercise Science programs and the MSAT program to support student transitions into advanced study.
  • Contribute to accreditation compliance for the MSAT program, including meeting faculty staffing standards.
  • Participate in departmental, school, and university service, including committee work.
  • Support recruitment, retention, and enrollment initiatives through engagement with prospective and current students.
  • Collaborate with full-time and adjunct faculty to enhance curricular coherence and student experiences.
  • Strengthen faculty presence within the Health Science major, addressing student feedback regarding faculty access and continuity.
