The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor position commencing the FALL 2026 semester in one or more of the following areas: Integrated circuit (IC) design, VLSI, and semiconductor device fabrication and manufacturing. We seek applicants with strong theoretical, experimental and/or industrial experience and a history and strong plans for obtaining grants from competitive funding agencies and conducting research in one or more of the above areas. We are especially interested in expertise spanning design, verification, testing, and fabrication of integrated circuits for digital, analog, mixed signals; RF and microwave circuits; photonic integrated circuits; emerging micro/nanoelectronics, quantum circuits, neuromorphic engineering and related areas; AI-assisted chip design; semiconductor device manufacturing, packaging, and heterogenous integration; applications of circuit and system design/synthesis. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers B.S.in Electrical Engineering, B.S. in Computer Engineering, M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Ph.D.in Electrical Engineering. The department has 18 tenure or tenure-track faculty members. In addition, two of the full-time professional staff teach laboratory courses on a full-time basis. The faculty groups to four sub-area committees (SAC): 1. Electronics and Circuits; 2, Computer Engineering; 3, Solid state materials, Electromagnetism and Power; 4, Signal Processing, Control and Communication. Many of our faculty have expertise in more than one of these areas and they teach courses in multiple areas. The areas of the faculty’s active research are: nanotechnology, spintronics, opto-electronics, renewable power, integrated electrical/biological/optical circuits and systems, image processing and analysis, machine learning, embedded DSP, digital design, logic synthesis, computer architecture, embedded systems, robotics, nonlinear and hybrid control systems, intelligent transportation systems, wireless networks, 3G and 4G cellular systems, agile radio, electromagnetics, plasma physics, pulsed power, microwaves, optics, radiation hardened electronics, optics, and imaging systems, high energy density physics diagnostics, space flight instrumentation, laser spectroscopy, and other. The department faculty and staff understand and accept that everyone is different, respect those differences, and are open to listen to different points of views and leverage them to learn from each other.
