The Department of Drama and Dance at Hofstra University invites applications for two (2) full-time, tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor of Dance to begin work on September 1, 2026. The successful candidates will join our nationally recognized Dance Program and will contribute to our mission of training the next generation of dynamic and diverse dance artists, educators and multi-disciplinary scholars. Interested applicants for these positions should have at least three years' experience in teaching dance courses in higher education, a passion for inclusive pedagogy, and a clear and focused creative agenda. Responsibilities will include teaching a range of courses for undergraduates, which could include modern technique, ballet and pointe classes, jazz dance technique (including the history and development of jazz dance as well as current trends), and the ability to teach in other areas such as Choreography, Somatics, Contemporary partnering, Dance and Film, Dance and Technology, etc. These faculty members will contribute to the success and functioning of our program in ways such as mentoring students, directing dance concerts, curating repertory, choreographing for performances, and leading recruitment efforts both on and off campus. We seek highly engaged dance professionals who will enrich our collaborative, diverse, and interdisciplinary community and who will be committed to continuing their creative practice to bring innovative industry knowledge into the classroom.
