About The Position

Summary: The Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice, a full-time faculty member of the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department, teaches 12 credit hours per semester. While teaching will be the successful candidate's primary responsibility, advising, service, and scholarship in the discipline are also expected in this tenure-track appointment.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Public Administration, or related field.
  • At least two years of experience teaching undergraduate-level criminal justice courses.
  • Experience with basic classroom technology.

Nice To Haves

  • At least five years of experience teaching in higher education.
  • Experience teaching courses in policing and/or upper division courses in the successful candidate's area of expertise.
  • Experience teaching through various modalities (in person, hybrid, online).
  • Experience with learning management systems, video conferencing software, and Microsoft Office Programs.

Responsibilities

  • Teach core and elective undergraduate criminal justice courses, which may include the following: CRMJ 315 Research Methods in Criminal Justice, CRMJ 110 Orientation to Criminal Justice Inquiry, CRMJ 201 Introduction to Criminal Justice, and CRMJ 302 Ethics in Criminal Justice, and upper division electives in the successful candidate's area of expertise.
