About The Position

The Department of Justice and Political Studies at Bethune‐Cookman University invite applications for a full‐time, tenure‐track position as Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice in the undergraduate/graduate program. The area of specialization is open, although applicants must be able and willing to teach research methods (quantitative and qualitative), introductory criminal justice courses, and upper‐level courses to serve the needs of the department. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is preferable: research methods, law enforcement, and juvenile justice. Capacity to teach graduate courses is also preferred.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or Criminology is preferred but ABD in those areas will be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Online teaching and graduate teaching experience is a plus, but is not required.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas is preferable: research methods, law enforcement, and juvenile justice.
  • Capacity to teach graduate courses is also preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Excellence in teaching and service are required (Evidence of an active research agenda is also required).
  • The successful candidate will teach four courses each semester.
