About The Position

Reinhardt University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor in Chemistry. This is a 9-month contracted position that will start in August, 2026. Primary duties include teaching up to 27 contact hours per year, advising students, serving on faculty standing committees, working collegially with colleagues to develop academic curricula and enrichment activities, and assisting with academic program assessment, among other duties. The College of Humanities, Sciences, and Technology at Reinhardt University invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Chemistry position to work on the main campus in support of the Biology and Nursing programs. Appointment will begin August 2026. Chemistry at Reinhardt currently consists of courses taught in support of the Biology and Nursing majors and the Chemistry minor. Science faculty provide students with research and internship opportunities, mentorship, and a strong foundation for success before and after graduation. This program supports the mission of the University, which is to educate the whole person with challenge and care. We seek a chemist with knowledge and teaching experience in inorganic and organic chemistry. Preference will be given to biochemistry expertise. The ideal candidate will regularly teach both inorganic (general) and organic chemistry lectures and labs, nursing for health sciences, and upper-level courses such as quantitative analysis and biochemistry.

Requirements

  • A strong working knowledge of chemistry concepts and lab techniques.
  • Strong skills for teaching at the introductory level.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
  • Experience developing and supervising internship/research opportunities.
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills, flexibility, and a strong work ethic.
  • Doctorate (Ph.D. or ABD) in chemistry or biochemistry from a regionally accredited program is preferred. A master's with college teaching experience will be considered.
  • Collegiate teaching experience with documentation of teaching success: Applicants should demonstrate a history of teaching introductory and upper-level coursework and should highlight relevant experiences.
  • A strong commitment to undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching up to 27 contact hours per year (undergraduate) on the main campus.
  • Teaching CHE 180: General Chemistry and lab, CHE 380: Organic Chemistry and lab, and CHE 130: Chemistry for Health Sciences and lab for the fall semester.
  • Teaching CHE 182: General Chemistry II and lab and CHE 382: Organic Chemistry II and lab for the spring semester.
  • Establish and supervise internship and research studies in chemistry.
  • Advising students
  • Serving on faculty standing committees
  • Working collegially with colleagues to develop academic curricula and enrichment activities
