About The Position

The School of Health Sciences at Columbia College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology position beginning in August 2026 with a strong teaching focus in cell and molecular biology and related biomedical disciplines. The Biology program is housed in the School of Health Sciences. Other programs in this school include Chemistry, Exercise Science, Public Health, and Speech Language Pathology. School faculty are committed to collaborative undergraduate research and have been successful in obtaining outside funding to support these efforts. This position is a nine-month, full-time, tenure-track appointment. The standard teaching load is twelve credit hours for each of the fall and spring semesters. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to design and deliver courses in a variety of formats, including online and hybrid modalities, and is expected to teach core courses and specialized courses in cellular, molecular, genetic, microbiological, and biomedical sciences. Courses may include, but are not limited to: Introductory Biology and Life Science Human Biology and Medical Terminology Microbiology and Parasitology Molecular Cell biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Immunology, and Histology Human Anatomy & Physiology Specialized electives Additional courses as needed to support programmatic needs. The candidate is expected to have flexibility in class scheduling to meet the needs of the College. Faculty members are expected to participate in faculty governance and academic program activities, and to engage in service as well as scholarship and professional development.
